A little bit of us

La Placeta consists of Manolo, Jaime and our pets: Romo, Flamenca, Clein and Candela, but the most special part of La Placeta is you, our guests, who bring a bit of your personality and your experiences to our cottages.

Pórtugos is Jaime’s grandparents’ village, and La Placeta has been his holiday home since he was a kid. It’s where he always came back to rest, eat well and be surrounded by his loved ones. After having been empty for more than 10 years, we decided to restore it maintaining its essence and respecting the traditional Alpujarras architecture.

Manolo, a driving instructor, didn’t need to give it a second though when presented with the opportunity to change the noisy city for the peace and quiet of Las Alpujarras. Jaime worked in the fashion industry, and after many years of stress and hard work, he decided to recover his childhood memories in Pórtugos to share them with others.

After a few years of dedication and a lot of hard work and enthusiasm, La Placeta Guesthouse was born.

We’re happy to be here, to work every day to create something different, where we become better little by little surrounded by unique and pleasurable experiences. A place to enjoy ourselves, feel alive and leave stress behind.
